PrerequisitesStudents need to have passed two out of the four Level 1 English assessments: Achievement Standard 1.2, the literary essay, writing - student choice (either the Glenfield College assessment OR the NCEA external), and the unfamiliar texts paper (either the Glenfield College practice exam OR the NCEA external)
The HOD of English will decide overall selection based on results and teacher recommendations.
This course is for students who are most passionate about the creative aspects of English. It is for students who especially enjoy creative writing and want to develop their skills, knowledge, and experience in this area. A wide range of creative works - such as novels, poetry, and short stories - will be studied, allowing students to develop their unique voice as a writer and storyteller. The course also includes literary studies into a literary movement. For one of the standards, students choose between creating an oral (2.5) OR visual presentation (2.6) All of the UE Writing requirements can be achieved in this course, along with the University of Auckland's separate entrance requirement, and it allows students to progress through to Level 3 English.
