L2 English Literature & Non-Fiction

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr K. Lee.

This course is for students who prefer non-fiction text types and the classically academic aspects of English. Students in this course will produce a piece of persuasive writing, and literary essays, complete a research investigation, and study a movement of literature and a novel. The course includes all the UE Reading and Writing requirements, along with the University of Auckland's separate entrance requirement, and allows students to progress through to Level 3 English.  

Prerequisites

Students need to have passed two out of the four Level 1 English assessments: Achievement Standard 1.2, the literary essay, writing - student choice (either the Glenfield College assessment OR the NCEA external), and the unfamiliar texts paper (either the Glenfield College practice exam OR the NCEA external)
The HOD of English will decide overall selection based on results and teacher recommendations.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Stationery required: Chromebook, 2x 1B5 exercise books (needed for every lesson), refil,, pack of 4 coloured highlighters, small post it notes, pens, pencils, glue stick
