L1 English Literacy
Course Description

This course is for students who have been identified as requiring additional support to achieve the NCEA Literacy co-requisite. Earning these co-requisite credits is required to achieve any level of NCEA. The programme will focus on reading skills and, strategies, and improving written accuracy and fluency. Students will be placed in this course; it is not a subject that students self-select. During the year, there may be the opportunity to sit English achievement standards, but this is dependent on success in the co-requisites. This course progresses onto Level 1 English and Senior Literacy.
Prerequisites
Students will be selected for this course based on the progression of English results over years 9-10, along with other data such as e-asTTle, Reading Plus, and teacher recommendations.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Stationery required: Chromebook, 2x 1B5 exercise books (needed for every lesson), refill,, pack of 4 coloured highlighters, small post-it notes, pens, pencils, glue stick

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
